I write this in a state of shock. When the lovely Steve Braunias suggested that I enter Villainesse in the Canon Media Awards I thought he was joking. Villainesse was barely six months old at the time, and while I was immensely proud of the Villainesse team (I still am, on a daily basis) I doubted the Canon Media Awards would take a second look our very young site.
As in many things, I was wrong, and Steve was right. I’m beyond proud that Villainesse has been announced as a finalist in the Best Blog category at the Canon Media Awards. A year ago, Villainesse didn’t yet exist. In a bizarre twist of fate, the Canon Media Awards presentation evening will take place on Villainesse’s first birthday, the 20th of May. It’s been quite the wild ride.
Two phenomenal blogs, Public Address and The Pantograph Punch are finalists alongside us, and it truly is an honour to be recognised in a group that includes two such outstanding sites.
As I rarely get the opportunity to acknowledge all of the amazing and dedicated writers who make Villainesse what it is, I want to take the chance to do that now. And also to the #MyBodyMyTerms crew. Many hugs, etc.
And to Jo, my partner in crime here at Villainesse… if that was the first 10 months, who knows what the next 10 will bring?!
And lastly to you, thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to read Villainesse. <3
